Before the British, the French and the Dutch, around the 15th century, the Portuguese were already on expeditions investigating the African Coast. However, even long before that, Phoenicians were cruising in the 600 BC timeline, contracted by the Egyptian King. Archaeological data indicates that even further in time, approximately 200BC, The Greek had left their footsteps as well. Europeans were probably not the first to set foot on Africa but they were most definitely a major impact on the lives and culture of the people they met.
