Trinidad & The British

In the year 1797 the British attacked Trinidad. At the time of the attack Trinidad was under Spanish rule. Trinidad was definitely out numbered so they didn’t have a fair fight. Pretty much Trinidad was imperialized. From then on Trinidad became a British Colony. In the year 1834, the British Parliament passed an abolishing slavery act for the planters; little did they know there was a catch behind it. The British said that the ex slaves had to serve a period of “apprenticeship” to their former masters. Four years for domestic slaves or house slaves and six years for field laborers. Trinidad provided Cocoa and Sugar. In the year 1962 Trinidad declared its independence is no longer under the British Empire.
